A: The window is made with impact glass consisting of a strong laminated interlayer bonded between two panes of annealed, heat-strengthened, or tempered glass. When struck by a forceful object the glass resists shattering. (i.e. the front window of an automobile) When impact glass is struck it spider webs and stays together as one piece. This prevents water from intruding into the home even if the glass were to crack.

Q: What is Insulated Glass?
A: Insulated Glazing or Insulating Glass (commonly referred to as “IG”) is a set of two or more lites of glass spaced apart and hermetically sealed to form a single glazed unit with an air space between each lite. Its most important function is to improve the thermal performance of glass when used in architectural applications.

Q: What is the advantage of argon gas between panes?
A: Argon gas is 5-1/2 times heavier than air. It serves as an efficient insulator against heat, cold and noise; far better than standard air.

Q: What is “Low-E” glass?
A: Low-Emissivity (Low-E) coatings are microscopically thin, virtually invisible, metal or metallic oxide layers deposited on a window or skylight glazing surface primarily to reduce the U-factor by suppressing radiative heat flow. It will keep your home warmer in the winters and cooler in the summers, and will also allow you to hang artwork that would otherwise be damaged or discolored by UV rays around the room.

Q: Will I need to replace any of my window sills or have to touch them up on my own?
